RESOURCES

Research Institutes

Over the past two years over 18,000m2 of new research laboratories has been established across Dublin within modern multi-disciplinary research institutes. These include:-

  • Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research at University College Dublin
  • Institute of Molecular Medicine at St James' Hospital/Trinity College Dublin
  • Institute of Biopharmaceutical Sciences at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Technologies & Bioresources

A portfolio of new technologies and bioresources is being assembled within these institutes and within the principal Dublin teaching hospitals to support our current research programmers.

Technology Cores Network of Bioresources

Technology cores have been established in:-

  • Transcriptomics
  • Proteomics
  • Cell Imaging
  • Transgenics
  • Bioinformatics

These core facilities have been centralised to ensure that they are appropriately resourced with dedicated and experienced technologists. The facilities are accessible to all DMMC investigators regardless of institutional affiliation.

The DMMC is creating specialist hospital-based clinical research facilities known as "Genome Resource Units" (GRU's) at the Mater Miscordiae University Hospital and at St Vincent's University Hospital. These clinician scientist-led facilities will provide dedicated space to conduct detailed phenotypic assessments and collection of biological samples.

  • GRU at Mater Miscordiae University Hospital
  • GRU at St Vincent's University Hospital
  • Clinical Research Centre at Beaumont Hospital
  • Biobanking facility at St James' Hospital

When linked research space and when linked with other facilities around the city have the potential to create a highly specialised clinical research network.
