The Dublin Molecular Medicine Centre (DMMC) is a not for profit company being established
Royal College of Surgeons
in Ireland, Trinity College Dublin and
University College Dublin to achieve their common objectives in
accelerating the translation of scientific research into better
quality outcomes for patients.
The Dublin Molecular Medicine Centre
(DMMC) was established through the Higher
Education Authority's Programme for Research in Third Level
Institutions, in partnership with Atlantic Philanthropies,
as part of the National Development Plan.

DMMC represents a highly focused
research partnership in the life sciences between Royal College of Surgeons
in Ireland (RCSI), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and
University College Dublin (UCD). A network of affiliated hospitals
provides the setting for accelerated translational bioscience.

DMMC is harnessing the results of
the Human Genome Project to increase understanding of the pathogenesis
and treatment of common acquired diseases. The co-ordinated application
of genomics and proteomics is being employed to identify novel therapeutic
targets and their modulators in our primary areas of research focus:
- Cancer Biology.
- Infection, Inflammation and Immunity.
- Neuroscience.
- Vascular Biology.
DMMC is actively:
- Integrating and synergising expertise in molecular
medicine research to position Dublin as a state-of-the-art, internationally
competitive and sustainable centre of excellence.
- Adding value in research at Ireland's premier
academic institutions by developing core technology platforms,
establishing a critical mass of biomedical research and by attracting
& developing quality graduates, who will fuel the future development
of Irish bioindustry.
- Forging a new and dynamic research partnership
that serves Ireland's broader social, economic and health needs
into the future.
- Enriching the nation's research and educational
milieu and creating new knowledge that enhances Ireland's position
in the fields of science and technology.
- Placing Ireland's molecular medicine research
programme in the appropriate ethical and societal context
