The UCD Conway Institute, together with the UCD College of life Sciences Graduate School, has enabled DMMC Education & Training to offer places on their Structured PhD Taught Course Module.

This course focuses on the interaction between the immune and nervous systems at molecular, cellular and systems levels. It provides an overview of current and developing concepts in Neuroimmunology from both Neuroscience and Immunology perspectives. It aims to familiarise students with the molecular and cellular elements of interconnectivity between the immune and nervous systems and the effect of neuro-immuno interaction on physiological responses and disease processes.

The course comprises 10x3hr seminar-style sessions designed to encourage interaction and
discussion.

On completion of the course students should be able to:
- Appreciate how recent developments in neuroimmunology are changing established concepts in both immunology and neuroscience
- Evaluate new developments from a perspective that encompasses concepts and paradigms from both immunology and neuroscience perspectives
- Apply neuroimmunological concepts to their own research
Learning Activities:
Reading current review articles
Assessment:
Participants who satisfactorily complete the end-of-course MCQ examination (scheduled 10am on 11 June 2008) will receive a DMMC Certificate acknowledging successful completion of course assessments.
