DMMC Course: TECHNIQUES & STRATEGIES IN MOLECULAR MEDICINE

1400-1445 Monday 4 December 2006. UCD Conway Institute Lecture Theatre, UCD

RNA detection and quantitation
Dr John Crean (UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research)
Due to unforseen circumstances Dr Crean was unable to give the Lecture, Dr Sarah O'Meara presented this topic in his absence.

RNA analysis is the starting point for many molecular biology procedures. This lecture will provide an introduction to RNA procedures such as purifying RNA, assessing the quality of purified RNA, amplifying via RT-PCR, and assessing mRNA levels by procedures including Northern blot and Real-Time (Taqman) PCR.
