DMMC Course: PROTEOMICS: METHODS & APPLICATIONS
1615-1700 Tuesday 13 June 2006. UCD Conway Institute Lecture Thearte
Protein-Ligand Interactions of Medical Relevance Dr Alejandro Merino, UCD
The co-emergence of microarray technologies
with systems oriented approaches to discovery is testament to the technological
and conceptual advancements of recent years. By providing a platform for massively
parallelised reductionism, microarrays are enabling us to examine the functional
features of diverse classes of bio-system components in a contextually meaningful
manner. Yet, in order to provide economic impact, future development of these
technologies demands intimate alignment with the goal of producing safer and
more efficacious drugs. This lecture will focus specifically on the latest
advancements in protein arrays and detection technologies and its potential
impact on medically relevant protein-ligand interactions.
