Dr Stephen Langabeer
(St
James's Hospital)
A number of case studies will be described to emphasise how the information on basic cancer biology and cancer genetics is providing us with new approaches to disease diagnosis, disease prognosis and fuelling the drive for new therapeutics. The influence of molecular diagnostics and its application in the management of cancer patients will be presented and the use of targeted therapy, directed towards particular genes or disease pathways will be illustrated by a number of pertinent examples to clinical practice today.
