Cancer drug development:
Taking the target forward - working towards novel anti-apoptotic candidates
Dr David Lloyd (Molecular Design Group, School of Biochemistry and Immunology, TCD)

The development of novel putative therapeutics is reliant on the synergy between basic science, medicine and pharmaceutical chemistry. Working from our knowledge of the apoptotic interactome, we can approach therapeutic design through rational ligand- and structure-based routes - moving towards the application of virtual screening in silico to deliver high-confidence putative actives. This session links with that of Dr Dean Fennell's to contextualise translational research in action.
